Welcome to the Derwent Singers' Website!

We are a Derby-based chamber choir consisting of about 25 singers who regularly perform concerts in and around the Derby area.  Practising once a week on a Thursday night we are always on the lookout for new members to join us to sing old and new a cappella repertoire.  We are a really friendly bunch of people both young and old(er!) from varying backgrounds who just like to get together and enjoy singing and performing.

If you are interested in joining us, or just coming along to a rehearsal to see what we're all about. then please click on the "Join Us" link on the left hand side.

Further information about our concerts can be found by clicking here or by clicking the "Concerts" link on the left hand side.  We have an exciting programme of concerts over the coming year including works by Bach, Teixeira, Britten and Walton, to name just a few.  Highlights of the 2011 season, which we are greatly looking forward to presenting, commence with a rarely-performed work from the Portugese Golden Age composer Antonio Teixeira.  This will be performed twice – once in Derby Cathedral and once in Southwell Minster in March.  This is a joint venture between the Derwent Singers and Nottingham’s Sinfonia Chorale.  April sees us performing Walton’s Belshazzar’s Feast in Derby’s Roundhouse and our now traditional summer concert will take place in July in Rolleston-on-Dove’s beautiful St Mary’s Church.  Don’t forget our Carols by Candlelight event on 16th December 2010 in St Werburgh’s Church, Spondon.  Full details of all our concerts are on the Concerts page.

We look forward to welcoming you to our concerts.  If you would like more information about the choir or our concerts then please email info@derwentsingers.org.uk.
